What is Responsibility?
I love the word “responsibility”. Whenever I sound it to myself, I feel a big whole-body smile and a sense of joy and spaciousness.
However, if I think back to my younger years I would have probably experienced the word very differently, maybe more as an imposition or some sort of duty or burden. It strikes me how extensively the word Responsibility has been bastardised like so many other divine words such as Love, all of which are deeply connected to responsibility.
So what does responsibility mean to me these days and why does it make me smile?
Through the teachings of Serge Benhayon and my experience of The Way of The Livingness, I have discovered:
- there are two sources of energy – one that is Divine, heals and serves all, and one that harms and is all about the individual self, and
- everything we do or don’t do, say or don’t say, think, how we move – everything matters and either heals or harms.
It is really very simple because with energy it either is or it is not. It is either healing from our Soul, or it is not. There is no wriggle room or grey area.
“The Way of The Livingness presents that we are here to connect and live from and by a certain impulse, by a certain form of energy, God’s impulse, which comes first from your Soul, our Soul, the One Soul.”
Serge Benhayon, The Way of The Livingness, Sermons 1 – 11, ed 1, p 1
Responsibility really comes down to which source of energy I am expressing and thereafter all my movements and actions will be a consequence of that.
I have had plenty of past experience of living as an energetically irresponsible individual that from the outside looked like a very responsible person, and I can tell you it does not work. In the long and even short run it never satisfies and there is always that missing feeling. Yes, I did well in business, had a wonderful partner, a great house and all the trappings, but all that is less than nothing compared to what is on offer to us when we live and express from our soulful origins.
For example, if I am moving in connection to myself and the Divine and I open a door and walk into a room, you might not notice anything spectacular or out of the ordinary. However, I will have experienced the pleasure of my own movements, the touch of my hand on the door handle, the experience of stepping from one space to another and the knowing that I have left a healing imprint for the next person who walks through that door amongst many other things. We might not always admit it, but we can all feel these things. We know how jarring it is when someone slams a door and we can often enter a room and feel uncomfortable or vice versa picking up on whatever energetic imprints have been left behind. We often avoid just how much we feel and are aware of everything because if we did allow ourselves to be more aware there would be consequences and we would have to change our behaviour and also others might react.
These days I embrace the changes needed and understand and do not react to the reactions, because I have discovered that the consequences of expressing Soulfully are simply Divine!!! – really there is nothing better or more gorgeous. Nothing more joyful or more fun regardless of how it might appear on the outside, which can be quite different than you might imagine.
Therefore, responsibility makes me smile for it represents all that I hold dear and offers me great purpose and a fast track back to an endless expansion and a glorious way of living that is wordless, encompasses all and yet is very normal.
